Private villa services in Punta Cana
A rented villa gives you the house. It rarely gives you the person who cooks in it, the one who keeps it running, or the food in the fridge when you arrive.
What a villa rental usually leaves out
Villas in Cap Cana, Punta Cana Resort and Club and Bavaro are let by the week, and most of them come empty. There may be a caretaker and a pool service. There is rarely a cook, and there is almost never anything in the kitchen.
That gap is larger than it sounds. A group of eight arriving at nine in the evening after a long flight discovers that the nearest supermarket closed an hour ago, that the villa is twenty minutes from anywhere useful, and that dinner has become a problem.
The remedy is unglamorous and it works. The kitchen is stocked before you land, with what you actually eat. A chef comes in for the meals you want cooked, and not for the ones you would rather handle yourselves. Someone deals with laundry, beds and towels, and you never think about it again.
None of this means living with staff. Most groups want a chef for dinners and breakfast, and the house to themselves the rest of the time. That is the normal arrangement here, not the exception.

How the first day is usually planned
We ask three questions before anything else: how many of you there are, what nobody eats, and whether you want breakfast cooked. Those three answers determine most of the rest.
The shopping is done on the day of arrival rather than earlier, so nothing sits in a fridge waiting for you. Basics, breakfast, drinks, and whatever you have asked for specifically. If there is a coffee you care about, say so, it is usually findable.
The chef arrives before you do on the first evening if you want dinner that night. After that the pattern is yours. Some groups keep a chef every evening for a week. Others use one for the first night, a beach lunch mid week, and let us book restaurants the rest of the time.
Supermarkets in Punta Cana carry most of what you would expect and a few things you would not. Imported specifics are worth flagging early rather than on the morning.
Questions we are asked about villa staff
- Can we have a chef for some meals and not others?
- Yes, and that is the usual arrangement. Most groups book dinners and leave lunches free, or take a chef for the first night and a couple of evenings after that.
- Do you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
- Yes. Tell us before the shopping is done rather than on the day and it is straightforward. Gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, nut allergies and food for young children are all routine here.
- Will the staff live in the villa?
- Not unless you want that. Chefs and housekeepers come for their hours and leave. Live in arrangements are possible in larger villas but they are the exception.
- Can you stock the villa before we land?
- Yes, that is the point of it. Send a list, or tell us the size of the group and let us handle the basics, and it is done the day you arrive.
- Which areas do you cover?
- Cap Cana, Punta Cana Resort and Club, Bavaro. If your villa is elsewhere, ask, it is usually possible.
- How much notice do you need?
- A month is comfortable for a chef in high season. Grocery stocking can be arranged with a couple of days, though the more notice we have, the more specific we can be.
