A boat to yourselves, a route chosen for your group, and someone who has already checked the sea forecast, the marina paperwork and the lunch. That is the difference between a charter and an excursion.

What a private charter changes

Most boat days sold in Punta Cana are shared excursions. You board with sixty other people, follow a fixed route, and stop where the schedule says. It works, and it is inexpensive, but you spend the day on someone else's timetable.

A private charter reverses that. You choose the stops, how long you stay at each one, what is on board and who is with you. If the group wants two hours at the natural pool instead of forty minutes, you stay two hours.

Departures are usually from Cap Cana Marina or from the beach at Bavaro, depending on the boat and the villa you are staying in. We can also assist in coordinating a full-day trip to Isla Saona or Palmilla, including the boat experience, transportation, and other arrangements to make your day seamless and unforgettable.

The sea is generally flattest in the morning, and wind builds through the afternoon. That matters more on a sailing catamaran than on a motor yacht, and it is one of the reasons we ask for your dates before suggesting a boat.

Choosing between Saona, Catalina and staying close

Saona Island sits inside Cotubanama National Park, south of the mainland. It is the long day: white sand, shallow water, and the sandbank known as the natural pool where starfish sit in waist deep water. From Punta Cana the distance by sea is considerable, so most Saona days begin with a road transfer to Bayahibe and continue by boat from there.

Catalina Island lies off La Romana. It is quieter than Saona, the snorkelling is better, and the drop off known as the wall is one of the more interesting sites in the country for anyone who dives. It also involves a road transfer.

If you would rather not spend half the day travelling, there is good water much closer. off Bavaro, is a shallow natural pool reachable in under an hour by boat, with the reef just outside it. For a group with young children, or for a half day, this is usually the better call, and we will say so.

High season runs from December to April, when the weather is driest and the sea most predictable. June to November is hurricane season. That does not make the sea unusable, but it does mean a plan needs a second option, and we build one in.
