EVENTS AND CELEBRATIONS
Proposals and private celebrations in Punta Cana
A table on the sand at the right hour, a photographer already in position, and nobody in your group knowing anything about it until it happens.
What actually makes a beach proposal work
The picture people have in mind is a table on empty sand at sunset. Getting there is mostly logistics, and three of them decide whether it works.
The first is light. Sunset in Punta Cana falls between about six and seven depending on the month, and the good light is the twenty minutes before it. A setup that is ready at seven in January has missed it. Everything else is timed backwards from that.
The second is location. Public beaches are public, which is fine at eleven in the morning and less romantic at six in the evening when a football match starts twenty metres away. Juanillo in Cap Cana and private villa beaches all behave differently. Some require permission, and that takes days to arrange rather than hours.
The third is the story that gets the person there. A proposal at a table on the sand needs a reason for a walk on the sand. That is usually the part nobody has thought about, and it is the part we are most useful for.

What is arranged for you
- Beach or terrace setup, including table, seating, lighting and flowers
- Permissions where the location requires them
- Photographer and videographer, positioned in advance
- Private chef or restaurant table for afterwards
- Musicians, from a solo guitar to a small group
- Cake, champagne, and anything else that has to arrive cold
- Timing planned backwards from sunset
- Transport for everyone, including the people who must not know why
Birthdays, anniversaries and group celebrations
Not every occasion is a proposal. Birthdays abroad have their own problem, which is that the person celebrating usually ends up organising their own party. Taking that away from them is most of the gift.
For groups the common shapes are a private dinner at the villa with a chef and a bartender, a beach setup for an evening, or a boat day built around the occasion. Each has a different lead time. A villa dinner can come together in a few days. A beach setup that needs permissions wants a week or more, and longer in high season.
Decoration deserves a word. The local default leans heavily on balloons and lettering. If that is what you want, it is easy. If it is not, say so early, because it is what will arrive otherwise.

Questions we are asked about proposals
- How far in advance should I plan a proposal?
- Two to three weeks is comfortable, and more in high season if a specific beach or a specific photographer matters. Shorter notice is possible, with fewer options.
- Can you arrange a photographer without the other person knowing?
- Yes, and that is the usual request. Photographers here are used to working at a distance and joining the group afterwards.
- Do we need permission to set up on a beach?
- It depends on the beach. Some stretches require it and some do not. We will tell you which applies to the one you have in mind, and handle it if it is needed.
- What happens if it rains?
- A second location is agreed in advance, usually covered, and usually at the villa or on a restaurant terrace. It is not the picture you planned, but it is not a cancelled evening either.
- Can you organise a birthday for a group already here?
- Yes. A villa dinner with a chef and a bartender can be arranged in a few days. Larger setups need more notice.
- Can we do this at our resort?
- Sometimes. Resorts vary in what they allow from outside suppliers, and some handle it entirely in house. Tell us where you are staying and we will find out before you build plans on it.
